Delhi

Just after submitting my thesis for the doctorate degree I got appointed at the University of Delhi to work as Assistant Director (Hindi), at the Directorate of Correspondence Courses in January 1965. After six months in July 1965 I joint PGDAV College (University of Delhi) as a lecturer in the Department of Hindi. Besides teaching Hindi I was given classes to teach Principles of Indian Textual Criticism to Pre ­Phd. students, the class which was later named as M.Litt and M.Phil. course .

In 1966, Department of Linguistics, University of Delhi started M.A. and M.Litt Courses in Linguistics under the guidance of eminent Indian Linguist Professor P.B.Pandit. I took admission in the M.Litt.( Research Degree Course ) in Linguistics in the Department of Linguistics. It was a time when I was teaching Principles of Indian Textual Criticism to M.Litt Hindi students in the Department of Hindi and doing M.Litt in Linguistics in the Department of Linguistics , University of Delhi. Here I had the good luck to be the student of renowned Indian linguists such as Professor P.B. Pandit, Professor Agasthalingam Pillai, Professor Edgar Polome Prof. Yamuna Kachru and Braj Kachru (USA). I worked for the thesis on Hindi Numerals­ A Generative Model. I got 1st. Division and Second Position in the M.Litt examination. During this period I worked on my book ‘Pathalochan­ Siddhant aur Prakriya jointly written in collaboration with my brother Dr. Mithilesh Kanti and got it published by Navintam Prakashan , Delhi .

My doctoral thesis at the Allahabad University “Bhartendy Yugin Hindi Kavya Men Loktatva” got also published by Rishabh Charan Jain and Sons, New Delhi. The publication of my book “Pathalochan­Siddhant Aur Prakriya” gave me the confidence in the class as well as in the academic world as the book found its way into the M.A. syllabus of various universities where the subject was being taught at M.A. & M.Phil level.
