I had a strong background in applied linguistics. After obtaining M.Litt (Research Degree Course) from University of Delhi, I developed a keen interest in the teaching of Hindi as a foreign language. My long association with Professor H. H. Stern in Toronto  (1973- 1974) and Professor  Georgi Lozanov in Sofia (1974-1978) gave me insights into direct teaching with suggestopaedic  system in foreign language teaching methodology.
My confidence to face and solve intricate stumbling blocks in language comprehension and in normal communication came from my teaching assignments in India and abroad. My assignments at the University of Toronto, Canada (1973-1974), University of Sofia , Bulgaria (1974-1978 ), University of South Pacific, Suva , Fiji Islands(1985-1986)  and at the Max Muller Bhavan, American Institute of Indian Studies in Delhi and teaching Hindi  to foreign students for more than four decades at the University of Delhi have greatly enriched me. I designed specifically for the needs of my Bulgarian students a language teaching kit. The University of Sofia Press and the publishing house “Nauka I Iskustvo”, published this in three volumes. Written in Bulgarian language, this gave me the chance to design and test in depth the language teaching material.
I authored three pedagogical dictionaries which have been published under the titles Bulgarsko- Hindi Rechnik (1978),Learner’s Hindi English Dictionary in 2007  and Learner’s Hindi- English Thematic Visual Dictionary (2014). Experts and students have welcomed these as tools for accelerated language learning.
